A story too big for an old site.

Challenge

What began as a group of community activists addressing East Bay’s affordable housing shortage became Eden Housing, an organization providing 7,500 affordable homes across 45 cities. After a decade without updating their website, they came to us needing a site that reflected their evolving mission and a much more contemporary design. Their new website needed to effectively tell Eden’s story, cater to diverse audiences, enable new residents to search for available housing, and be easily updated by staff regardless of their digital savviness.

Eden is a community pillar, not a builder.

Insight

Eden Housing was focusing too much on facts and numbers, missing the true power of their work. A great brand is multi-dimensional. Eden isn’t just a contractor or property manager—it’s a community pillar.

While other similar organizations focus solely on building homes, Eden looked beyond, tackling economic justice through advocacy and community support. And by emphasizing their people—staff, partners, and residents—they have built trust and support.

Journey

Our work with Eden Housing was iterative, focused on bringing their brand to life. We built a website that beautifully translated their story through compelling messaging, including a new rallying cry: “Changing our world, one corner at a time”.

By shifting their focus to the heart of their mission, we ensured visitors immediately understood Eden Housing’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the affordable housing conversation.

We wanted their bold new visual identity to showcase them as a leader in affordable housing advocacy. The site backs that up with a highly-functional search system that enables users to search for available properties by list or by map. We designed their website to include powerful content—from advocacy to resident programs, property management to policy leadership, as well as short compelling content, and powerful testimonials and statistics highlighting the impact of their work. Their website is now a vibrant and engaging digital space allowing visitors to immediately understand that Eden Housing is on their side, ready to make a difference.

Impact

One major success was securing a unanimous vote in Livermore, CA, allowing them to build 130 affordable homes in a city that had resisted affordable housing for 20 years.

This victory is a testament to the power of their work made even more effective with their powerful new brand, compelling messaging, and a bold website that took their work to the next level. As champions of affordable housing, Eden Housing has all the brand tools they need to amplify their impact and continue to make a difference in their communities and change lives.
