Decades of trust, a message too soft to act on.
Center for Domestic Peace needed a brand and digital experience that matched the urgency of its mission. Its messaging lacked clarity and consistency, making it difficult to fully convey the stakes of domestic violence or to engage different audiences effectively. Survivors needed immediate, intuitive access to support. Donors and community members needed a clear understanding of how to help. Internally, board and staff were not fully aligned around a shared voice or narrative to guide the organization forward.
When urgency is clear and pathways are simple, people don’t hesitate—they act.
The center’s greatest strength was also its biggest communications gap. In trying to hold space for both deep compassion and systemic-change advocacy, the organization’s external voice had drifted into abstraction. It was heartfelt, but hard to act on. That abstraction was quietly costing them the very people who needed to find them fastest.
The breakthrough wasn’t choosing one identity over the other. It was owning the tension between them: Center for Domestic Peace could be both bold and caring, both direct-service provider and systems-change advocate, as long as the positioning made that dual identity a strength, not a contradiction.
The mission was strong. The message wasn't.
Mission Minded began with deep discovery by stepping into the shoes of the different audiences who mattered most, from those driven by urgency and systemic change to those who needed clear, credible proof before they’d act, to understand what each group needed to hear.
From that foundation, we built a complete positioning and messaging strategy anchored in a new tagline: Stand with Survivors. End Domestic Violence. The language that was direct, inclusive, and impossible to misread, paired with a full message framework built to move from feeling to action.
We then carried that same clarity straight into the website: mapping search trends and audience journeys, and using those insights to shape a sitemap and page structure built to move survivors to safety and donors to action, and fast.
A clear message and even clearer roadmap.
The result is a brand voice and website that finally match the urgency of Center for Domestic Peace’s mission—bold and clear, without losing the compassion that’s always been at its core. Survivors, donors, and community members can now find their place in seconds, not minutes, positioning the organization to raise more support than ever before.
