Mission Minded seeks a Senior Brand Strategist to work with us on a project-by-project basis with some outstanding nonprofits. This is not a full-time position and is ideal for someone with an existing or newly created consulting practice. We’re committed to doing good in the world, by crafting some of the most magnetic nonprofit brands around. We teach clients why brand matters and how it can amplify the work they do. Because these are organizations with limited resources, we make sure that our brand work is clear, cogent, and actionable. It has to ring true without the benefit of big marketing budgets. So our strategists have to be, in a word, great.
As a Senior Brand Strategist with Mission Minded, you’ll create and clarify brands, messages, and other written deliverables on behalf of our amazing clients. You will work with your colleagues to conduct and analyze qualitative and quantitative research, artfully facilitate brand strategy meetings, write inspired brand strategy documents, act as a client liaison, write clear and captivating messaging, and provide counsel as needed.
As in all good strategy development, we are constantly pushing ourselves and our clients to think bigger, broader, deeper. We like to challenge assumptions. We like to look at problems from multiple angles to find the best solution for a nonprofit. So being someone who is comfortable with collaboration, input, and iterative thinking is key.

You will often work in teams with one of the Mission Minded founding partners or the Director of Brand Strategy, the Design Director, and other strategists as needed. Your responsibilities will be quite varied: planning and conducting research among clients and their constituents, facilitating day-long brand sessions with clients, developing brand briefs, writing reports and marketing materials, and creating key messages for client use. You’ll often act as project lead for a nonprofit (with plenty of coaching from us first). At times, you’ll partner with a more junior strategist and will be expected to help develop their strategic acumen.
Based on your experience, you may be asked to participate in digital strategy to ensure consistency of brand strategy across digital applications.
Although Mission Minded is a for-profit company, our clients are working with limited budgets and often within constrained resources; Mission Minded project compensation reflects that reality. And there is qualitative compensation in supporting the work our clients are doing to make the world a better place.
