Beloved by children and their grown-ups alike, the Children’s Museum of Denver is a vibrant, spirited community for curious young minds to explore, learn, and create through play.

The local favorite and national leader approached Mission Minded for help articulating who they are as the Museum underwent a major upgrade of its campus. They had outgrown their space, and the time was right to assess what makes them who they are today, where they will be tomorrow, and how to communicate this progress in a way that is unique to the Museum and meaningful for the relationships they have cultivated thus far.

cm_bbFirst, Mission Minded led them through articulation of a revitalized brand as they prepared for this new phase in their history. With new brand components, including values, value proposition, positioning, personality, and a brand promise, they were now equipped with the tools they needed to embody the traits for which they seek to be known.

Next, the Museum needed captivating, memorable campaign messages that would help them raise the funds for this much-needed expansion. Mission Minded worked with the Children’s Museum team to craft compelling, powerful campaign messages that share their story in a way that attracts attention and results.

As a part of solidifying their new brand, the Museum sought to rearticulate its vision and mission statements. We collaborated with the Museum to develop bold, original vision and mission statements that align with the Museum’s distinctive personality and serve as the foundation upon which their efforts will grow.

With a fresh space encompassing a new look and feel, the Children’s Museum of Denver was in need of a vibrant new visual identity that would accurately capture the creative, smart, and fun personality of the Museum. It was imperative that the Museum’s new visual identity showcase their innovative expertise without sacrificing the inclusive, welcoming environment they have always sought to provide.

The new logo balances creativity, fun, and spontaneity with the sophistication, expertise, and wisdom found at the Children’s Museum of Denver. The icon becomes a symbol, reaching for new heights, while the trail it leaves invites participation in the journey. The logo is the culmination of the idea of building blocks, and the triangles use a tangram to emphasize the spirit of adventure and the journey of childhood. The warmth and diversity of the color palette and illustrations convey optimism, playfulness, creativity, and variety. The typeface is refined and modern, while being gentle, soothing, and accessible.

The collective brand components position the Children’s Museum of Denver as a game-changer and a risk-taker. The world that they create is a magical one like no other—it is extraordinary. The Children’s Museum of Denver, while playful, inquisitive, and celebratory, is also fearless—they are bold and leading the way.
