With the AFP International Fundraising Conference around the corner, I’ve been thinking about fun things you can do near the conference while you’re here.

Many of us at Mission Minded live or grew up in San Francisco, so we each have our own favorite spots to enjoy downtown.

I’ll be presenting a workshop on perfecting your organization’s messaging on Monday, May 1st, from 3:15 PM – 4:45 PM. It would be great to meet you there!

Top 5 Within 5 Minutes of AFP

SFMOMA

The exquisite SFMOMA is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the world, with an epic collection of more than 33,000 works. Stop in to be inspired by Calder, Warhol, Kahlo, Lichtenstein, Richter, Pollock or the largest living wall you’ve ever seen. Even if you just have an hour, you must witness this masterpiece of a museum. Plus it’s just a block from Moscone!

Novela

This literary-themed bar is the perfect spot for your post-conference refreshment. Novela is a cozy, classic, and slightly whimsical spot for a delicious cocktail.

Cityscape Lounge

Cityscape Lounge is your spot for a sunset view. This lounge is located at the top of the Hilton Hotel so it offers a stunning view of downtown SF in a relaxed setting. It’s less than a year old and has been receiving rave reviews.

Contemporary Jewish Museum

Take a 2-minute walk through the Yerba Buena Gardens to a massive balancing black cube that is home to the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Check our their current exhibit on New York-based contemporary artist, Cary Leibowitz. And don’t miss the Wise Sons Deli while you’re there. We love their Matza Ball Soup!

Local Eats

There are TONS of great restaurants downtown, but many are packed with tourists. Here are some options if you’re looking to get off the beaten path.

Nonprofits Downtown

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the many extraordinary nonprofits and foundations within 5 minutes of the conference. They include:
